I confess. I'm conceited enough to have come up with my own Knitting Philosophy. Actually, I just documented what I do. Never realized it was weird until DMIL knit by throwing yarn. Didn't realized I purled differently than anyone else until about 5 years ago.

I also knit continental in the combined method - reading Annie Modesitt's instructions did not make any sense to me until I got the concept of the leading leg of a stitch and paid attention to how a stitch sat on my needle. After that it all became clear to me.

Once I realized pattern instructions were written for those who purled in the usual way, I knew how to make my stitches behave the way the pattern intended.
